Our
structure
The
bed and breakfast “INSULA” is a charm residence,
located in the heart of the old town of Gallipoli. It is based on
a part of the antique palace Balsamo, marvellous example of baroque
stile. One side with many windows is along the central street De
Pace, very near to the Cathedral and in front of the “Seminario”
palace, presently the “Diocesano” museum.
The
“Balsamo” palace has been enlarged in the XVIII century
by Carlo Saverio Balsamo according to a drawing of the XVI century.
It maintains on the front side the old arch window and the porch
and represents one of the most charming corners of the old town.
The
aisle of the palace with the b&b INSULA belongs to the family
of the present owners since more than one century and has been
recently restructured according to the original structure.
The
b&b INSULA includes five spacious double
rooms, all with vaulted ceiling. Each room is equipped with TV,
air conditioning, high class furniture and private bathroom. Two
beautiful and large solarium terraces cut out in the tufa, are
available to the guests.
INSULA is the right place to rest for some days in a fascinating
place shrouded in a special atmosphere which enables to revive
the magnificence of ancient times.
